Katie and Ryan’s Charmingly Chill Engagement Session, Houston

Katie and Ryan showed us how it’s done with their easy and relaxed engagement session in Houston.
The couple started their engagement session near Lake Woodlands Drive in Woodlands, TX. Most of their photos were taken at a nearby park, which goes to show that you don’t always have to travel far to get a great location for outdoor engagement photos. Sometimes it’s all about recognizing the beauty of the places that are geographically convenient. After all, planning a wedding is stressful. It’s important to give yourself breaks where you can.
Having a location that they were comfortable with was a key ingredient to Katie and Ryan’s biggest success. Why was that? They were relaxed for the whole photo shoot. You can really see the difference in photos when you’re at ease and feeling comfortable in front of the camera. If you’re someone who usually gets nervous in front of the camera, worry not. There are a number of things you can do to set yourself up for success.
For their engagement session outfits, Katie and Ryan opted for a casual look. They kept it laid back but made sure that their ensembles complimented each other. This gave the photos a less-staged look while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. Their pop of red was a nice contrast to the greenery in the park.
Fitness is important to both Katie and Ryan, so the couple opted to do something we’ve never seen before (and wedding and engagement photos are what we do, so that’s saying something). To show off their fitness guru status, the couple switched into workout gear and let us tag along for some cute action shots, turning their park session into a fitness-inspired engagement session. We absolutely love these playful photos. They’re so fresh and fun. Plus, it really gives you a sense of who Katie and Ryan are. We love this approach and hope to see more couples embrace this approach!
