What?! You’ve never heard of Key Lime Pie Day?!

No worries. It’s a fairly new holiday. (Best we can tell, its inception was either 2014 or 2015 -- depending on your research.) But as we are Lily & Lime,  we make it our business to know about all things lime. Like Key Lime Pie Day, dubbed as “one last slice of summer before autumn.”

We love the sentiment. It can also make for a fun late summer-early fall wedding theme. (And great wedding photography. Talk about a pop of color!)

Here are a couple of our favorite Key Lime Pie Day recipes for your sweets table or bar.

Hey Wedding Lady puts a Mexican twist on the celebration with margaritas made from jalapeno-infused tequila. (Plan ahead! Infusing at home is easy. But it takes 4-5 days.) Pair these cocktails with mini key-lime tarts so no one gets too “wasted away” in Margaritaville.

Looking for a little more sober celebration? Try key lime popsicles. Perfect for a casual, daytime affair. 

We found this recipe on Smitten Kitchen made with fresh lime, condensed milk, and covered in crushed graham crackers. Sweet, tart, creamy, crunchy. This may be the new dessert nirvana.

Trying to keep it healthy? Check out “The Absolute Best (And Healthiest) Key Lime Pie” at Nosh and Nourish. Made with Greek yogurt and pureed yellow squash (Don’t knock it until you try it.), this pie boasts 70 percent less sugar than those made with traditional ingredients. And it sneaks in a vegetable. So good, you might want to sneak in more than one last slice of summer before autumn!
